I would like to comment on the article regarding the coroner’s vehicle being stolen, in the Sunday, Oct. 26 paper.
I have just recently moved from Florida, where it is against the law to leave car keys in an unoccupied vehicle.
The actions of the coroner have placed Forsyth County in a bad position, such as 1) Filing a claim with insurance carrier for the loss. 2) Possible legal liability if the car is involved in an accident.
Providing a key to each person who has a need to drive this vehicle would eliminate this problem.
I hope county commissioners take the loss out of the coroner’s salary rather than file an insurance claim.
