The recent approval of two warehouses confirms the end of an era for Paintball Atlanta.

During a meeting on April 17, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an application to build two warehouses, totaling 260,500 square feet, on property already zoned for light industrial use.

The warehouses are planned to be used for light distribution.

“This will be Hickory Real Estate Partners’ first project here, in Forsyth County,” said attorney Sean Courtney, who represents the developer. “They’re going to develop, build and plan to own the property. They look forward to being a part of the community long-term.”

The property in question, at the intersection of Shiloh Road and Ronald Reagan Boulevard, has been the site of Paintball Atlanta since the late 1980s. With the recent approval of warehouses, Paintball Atlanta must either relocate or close.

“We’ve talked to [the developer], and they’ve said they’re probably not going to be able to build until October,” Paintball Atlanta owner Lane Wright told FCN. “It may be sooner; it may be later… But they don’t mind us staying as long as they’re not building.”

Following approval of the warehouses, the developer confirmed with FCN they plan to build in late 2025 or early 2026.

Wright says he bears no ill will toward the landowner or developer. His sole focus now is to find suitable and affordable property for relocation.
