A boater called 911 Monday, Dec. 16, saying he found a body in Lake Lanier near the Dawsonville Highway bridge, police said.

A DeSana Middle School student is facing charges after an investigation into a bomb threat hoax was traced back to the student and a 10-year-old in Maine. Sheriff Ron Freeman says it’s no joke — and it’s time for parents and students to help stop the “stupid foolishness.”
