Chattahoochee River Adventure-Morgan Falls to Powers Ferry Thi s 6-mile day trip is the perfect introduction to the "Metro Hooch" for tho se interested in canoeing or kayaking but not so sure where to begin. Join Georgia Rivers experienced guides and kayaking instructors for this run f rom Morgan Falls Dam to Powers Island flowing through the heart of the Cha ttahoochee River National Recreation Area. The journey starts with flowing flatwater and reaches a crescendo at Cochran Shoals, rocky Class I shoals located just upstream from the take out at Powers Island. Along the 3-4 hour route, we'll learn about the rich history along the river and might even try some body surfing amongst the shoals. The trip is suitable for be ginners. Registration fees include guide services and map and shuttle serv ices. Rental boats may be reserved when registering. REGISTRATION OPENS DE C. 28 AT 8A.M. Skill Level Required: This is a flatwater paddle with some Class I shoals and is suitable for beginners and novices. Through funding from our many supporters and sp onsors, we are offering scholarships that provide full and partial complimentary registrations for qualifying individuals. Priority is given to wom en, people of color, recent immigrants to the U.S. and low income individuals and families. Applications for scholarships for this adventure must be submitted by May 9, 2025.
