GAINESVILLE — Traffic was reopened on Dawsonville Highway after a shutdown earlier during rush hour Thursday when a construction worker was injured in a fall.
Crews from the Gainesville Fire Department and Hall County Fire Services responded about 4:15 p.m. to the westbound Dawsonville Highway bridge.
A worker had fallen about 12 feet and was found under the bridge in the safety netting, Gainesville Fire spokesman Keith Smith wrote in a news release.
Crews used rope rescue rigging to place the worker in a basket for removal. He was raised from under the bridge and lowered onto the eastbound side.
The injured worker was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville in serious condition.
