Water to about 40 houses on Spring Drive and Sharon Lane was cut off Friday after a 6-inch main broke.

Representatives with the Forsyth County Water Department went to the homes, informing residents to boil their water until notified otherwise.

The cause of the break has not been determined.

A portion of Spring Drive from Old Atlanta Road to Sharon Lane is closed as crews work to fix the break.
