Pedestrian killed on Dahlonega Highway
Family, friends asking for help
Jose Ramirez

Friends say Jose Ramirez Labra was walking along Dahlonega Highway at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning when he was hit and killed.

They say Ramirez had left a home located near Dahlonega Highway and Sawee Drive and was walking north along Dahlonega Highway when he was struck and killed. They say they believe that he was hit by a motorcycle which then left the scene.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Traffic Specialist Unit responded, and is investigating. Officials say the call came in about 3:48 Sunday morning, and the victim was found in the northbound lane of Dahlonega Highway.  Officials confirmed that it appeared that the victim had been struck by a motorcycle.  In a press release, Deputy Jenny Belafi said a black and green Kawasaki Z-1000 motorcycle was found parked alongside the roadway.  She said the rider left the scene and is being sought by authorities.  They are asking that anyone with information contact Cpl. Phil Alexander at 770-781-3077

Ramirez, a 27-year-old graduate of Forsyth Central High School leaves behind several family members, including his mother, his wife, and his daughter.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the family's expenses can donate to a GoFundMe account that has been set up by clicking here.
