Authorities have confirmed that one person was killed in a  head-on collision in north Forsyth on Wednesday morning.

According to Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department, the wreck occurred along Jot Em Down Road between a full-sized SUV and a smaller compact SUV at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.  A female driver who was trapped in the compact SUV was killed.

Shivers said that a male passenger of the compact SUV was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and the occupants of the full-sized SUV received only minor injuries.

Cpl. Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said that they believe that the two vehicles collided head-on.

Rainwater said that the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Traffic Specialist Unit is on the scene and will be investigating the crash.

Traffic along Jot Em Down was temporarily shut down, according to Rainwater, but has since been re-opened.
