A portion of Ga. 400 at Dawson Forest Road was shut down Friday afternoon after a logging truck overturned at the intersection in Dawson County.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for what emergency workers described as cuts to his head.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Both northbound lanes on Ga. 400 were closed for about 30 minutes while Dawson County Sheriff's deputies and a Georgia State Patrol trooper investigated the wreck.

One lane reopened about 3 p.m.

According to witnesses at the scene, the load of logs appeared to have shifted as the driver turned right on Ga. 400 from Dawson Forest Road.
