CUMMING — One of Cumming’s most popular favorite — and delicious — events will return next weekend.
The annual Taste of Forsyth event is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Cumming Fairgrounds.
Fairgrounds administrator Dave Horton said the event is a chance for residents to find new eateries and for those restaurants to promote themselves.
“It gives them an opportunity to have samples of the food that they serve in the restaurant,” Horton said. “It’s nice for the community to come out. They can sample and then they say, ‘Hey, we want to go try this out this weekend at the restaurant.’ So, it drives business to them.”
The event will feature food from many restaurants, primarily within the county.
“Samples are usually between $1 and $4,” Horton said. “So you’re not getting a full meal at one place and then you’re so full that you can’t try something else. You can go to several different spots and try out the different foods.”
And with Easter the next day, Taste of Forsyth will continue its popular egg hunts.
There will be three hunts divided by age, with ages 3 and younger starting at 11:30 a.m., ages 4-7 starting at 1 p.m. and ages 8-10 at 2:30 p.m.
“We have three different age groups throughout the day,” Horton said. “We’ll put out right at 25,000 eggs total … we usually have a pretty good crowd out for that.”
In addition, there will be music and other fun activities.
“We have a kids’ zone. There will be inflatables, a puppeteer from the Atlanta Puppetry Arts Center there doing shows for the kids,” Horton said. “There will be a ‘Touch a Truck.’ Usually the fire department, SWAT team, National Guard, some of those guys, have trucks and hummers and such out there.
