The paid administrative leave for Forsyth County’s planning director has been extended for 20 working days.
According to a county memo, the investigation into Jeff Chance pertains to “e-mail correspondence.”
Chance was initially suspended for 10 working days, beginning May 12 and ending Tuesday.
County Manager Doug Derrer said “the leave has been extended in order to continue work on the investigation.”
Derrer said he could not comment on the details until the investigation has been completed, which he anticipated would be at the end of the 20-day extension.
“We’re looking into some questionable management decisions,” Derrer said at the start of the leave.
During Chance’s absence, Tom Brown, assistant planning director, has taken over his duties.
Chance, 44, has worked for the county since June 26, 1995, and has an annual salary of $92,104.
