CUMMING — An annual gathering of craft vendors will set up shop Saturday, offering a place to check some holiday gifts off the list before the holiday shopping season arrives.
The First Baptist Church of Cumming, 1597 Sawnee Drive, will hold its largest fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Well over” 1,000 people show up each year, officials said.
About 70 vendors from north Georgia will be selling handmade items in the event that has been put on for some 20 years, according to first-year coordinator Nancy Thorne.
“There will be a lot of really unique items, from antiques to quilts, crochet, pottery,” she said. “There are painters, seamstresses, a wide assortment of things. It’s a really great place to get Christmas gifts.”
Thorne took over organizing the event after longtime coordinator Sandi Abbott retired. Booths are set entirely indoors, so weather will not affect the event.
A $1 donation is requested for the church’s quilting ministry, which provides quilts for soldiers overseas, Thorne said.
The Kathy Jolly Group will provide breakfast and lunch for $6, and there will also be a bake sale. All proceeds benefit the church’s mission programs.
A silent auction will give away gift baskets and higher-item tickets.
