Man Drowns in Lake Lanier

Forsyth and Gwinnett fire personnel dispatched to a possible drowning at West Bank Park on Lake Lanier at 7:30 Monday evening were able to quickly locate the victim, according to Division Chief Jason Shivers.  

Shivers said the victim was located in shallow water very near to the location where he was last seen. 

The victim, described as an adult male, was taken by ambulance to Northside Hospital in Cumming.  Mark McKinnon, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that the victim did not survive.

By 9:30 p.m. most of the emergency units had left the scene.
