Authorities say that two Haw Creek Elementary students and one adult were seriously injured on Friday morning after they were hit by a vehicle while waiting for a school bus in their driveway.

At about 6:50 a.m. the two students, first grade and fourth grade girls, were waiting in the driveway of their home on Buford Highway near Echols Road with the adult male.

The student’s bus reportedly pulled up to the driveway, extended its stop arm, and a vehicle drove around the right-hand side of the bus, striking all three individuals.

All three have been rushed to local hospitals. According to authorities all three received serious injuries from the crash.

Authorities have taken the driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male, into custody. According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Doug Rainwater, they are still investigating the incident, but anticipate charges being filed in the wreck.

Forsyth County School System Director of Communications Jennifer Caracciolo said that the bus was filled with students at the time of the wreck. Those students have been transported to Haw Creek on a different bus, and will be provided counselors for what they may have witnessed.

This wreck is being investigated by the sheriff’s office’s traffic specialist unit.

This story will be updated.
