GAINESVILLE — Two new eating options are coming soon to Dawsonville Highway (Hwy. 53.)
The anticipated Chipotle will open its doors in January, after having been originally slated to open in November. And a Jersey Mike’s next door will start serving sandwiches in spring, according to Tim Knight, developer of the North Lake Square shopping complex.
Jersey Mike’s currently has no locations in northeast Georgia, though there are many in metro Atlanta.
According to its website, the eatery makes “fresh sliced, authentic northeast style sub sandwiches on fresh baked bread.”
In addition, Knight said construction is coming along for unfinished portions of the 200,000-square-foot site, including the location for home fashion department store HomeGoods.
“We’re finished with the sitework pretty much, but the rain has slowed us some,” Knight said, adding that “the steel will soon be going up for HomeGoods.”
Last month, Academy Sports + Outdoors opened a 62,000-square-foot store at North Lake Square.
Hobby Lobby was the first store to open there, with the chain’s 35th Georgia location going into business in early October.
“We’re extremely pleased with the interest in the shopping center,” Knight said. “Leasing is going well, and we look forward to more store announcements very soon.”
Knight has said in past interviews with The Times that he chose the site in Gainesville for North Lake Square because “you’ve got stable employment here, and it’s a growing area of Hall County. It’s a good, healthy market.”
