Tuesday’s weather more than made up for having to reschedule the 22nd Annual Chamber Membership Golf Challenge last month.

In fact, conditions for the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce’s fundraiser were “perfect,” said Kris Carroll, spokeswoman for the organization.

“We were very pleased with the turnout,” said Carroll, noting that 116 players took part. “[Especially] considering just the continuing tough economic times and the fact that this was rescheduled from a rain date.”

A handful of volunteers helped coordinate the tournament, and more than a dozen event sponsors were on hand to network with golfers.

While the event is among the chamber’s largest fundraisers, Carroll said it is more for businesses.

“Not only is it one of the longest running events, but it’s something that members look forward to because it’s an opportunity not only to play golf together, but to do business together on the golf course,” she said.

“In these challenging economic times, people continue to realize that people buy from people, not from companies.”
