Doughnut and coffee lovers will soon have a new place to stop in downtown Cumming.

Dunkin’, formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts, received a conditional-use permit from the Cumming City Council on Tuesday to operate a store at the intersection of Samaritan Drive and Hwy. 20. Signs at the property said the new location is “coming soon.”

At Tuesday’s meeting, the city council voted 4-0, with Councilman Christopher Light recused, to approve a conditional-use permit to operate a drive-thru business for THKC, LLC.

Scott Morgan, the city’s director of planning and zoning, said the store would be about 2,000 square feet and the development includes a 2,100-square-foot office building behind the restaurant.

No opening date for the store was given during the meeting, though there appears to be some activity at the site.
