Leonard's Farmers Market has got something for baseball fans and sausage lovers alike.

The Atlanta Highway store is holding a promotional event Saturday, where former Atlanta Braves catcher Biff Pocoroba will be signing autographs and giving out samples from Sausage World.

The former catcher's company has been in business for about 31 years.

"I always grew up around Italian food," said Pocoroba, adding that his grandfather used to make sausage for the family.

Company sales representative Jim Bush said he and Pocoroba brainstormed the idea to bring the baseball star turned businessman to the Forsyth County store.

Bush said Sausage World of Lilburn has been selling sausage to Leonard's for some time.

Pocoroba played catcher for the Braves from 1975-84.

The Burbank, Calif., native was drafted by the Braves in the 17th round of the 1971 amateur draft. In 1978, he made the National League All-Star team.

Saturday's event is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bush said the public is welcome to visit and try some sausage.
