Authorities say that three northeast Forsyth County neighborhoods were targeted by thieves on Tuesday morning, burglarizing dozens of unlocked vehicles, including two law enforcement vehicles, and stealing several weapons and a vehicle.
According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater, investigators believe between 1:30-3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, two thieves walked from driveway to driveway in the Wild Meadows, Whisper Point and Orchard Lakes subdivisions off Hopewell Road checking for unlocked vehicles and items to steal.
Rainwater said in a press release that as many as 26 vehicles, including a marked law enforcement vehicle and an unmarked Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office car, and the garage of one residence may have been entered by thieves during the incident.
The release states that the thieves stole a TASER and two other weapons from the law enforcement vehicles.
A Dodge Charger was stolen from another residence, the release states.
“Once again, we urge everyone to be vigilant when parking their vehicle, double checking that no valuables are left in the vehicle and the doors are locked,” Rainwater said.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is also asking local residents in the area to review their home security videos for any footage showing the suspects or suspicious activities.
If any suspicious activity is located, contact the sheriff’s office at 770-781-2222 or after hours at 770-781-3087, the release states.
