The bus transporting Pinecrest Academy's baseball team caught fire Wednesday afternoon traveling on Ga. 400.

All occupants of the bus are safe and sound, according to Pinecrest Academy athletic director Chris Kane.

Kane said that while traveling down the highway on Wednesday afternoon, the bus began to emit smoke from its engine area and was safely pulled to the side of the roadway.

Kane said that they are still waiting to hear a report from the fire department investigating the fire, and the school's transportation manager is on scene.

The private Catholic school's team was scheduled to play at Whitfield Academy in Mableton.
